“Hashtagging” your wedding is a fabulous new trend that allows couples and their guests to capture moments that the photographer may have missed. Hashtags are key words you tag photos with to combine all related photos in one place that is easy to view. For example, you use the hashtag symbol (#) and the the related words, i.e. #SmithWedding2013. Hashtags are most commonly used on social media sites such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Since this trend is new, it is a good idea to have a sign at the wedding that informs your guests of what the hashtag is. Most couples use both of their last names, the groom’s last name, the couple’s initials, their wedding date, etc. You can make it very original and specific to your event, or you can make it very simple i.e. the couples last name. Be careful, though if you decide to use the date of your wedding only, because another couple may have the same date as your wedding. This will cause combined pictures from both weddings, which will be confusing to you and your guests as well as their guests.
